Portugal had a performance to forget against Slovenia last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in the absence of key player Bruno Fernandes.

Recall that some players had been released to return to their clubs after Portugal’s first friendly of this break, after winning the game 5-2.
Bruno Fernandes was outstanding in that game, scoring a goal and providing an assist. He was one of the players released to return to his club, so he didn’t feature yesterday.
Fernandes has been central to everything Portugal has done in the past eight games, as Portugal had won their last 11 games, scoring 41 goals and conceding four goals.
