No Bruno Fernandes, no party
Portugal had a performance to forget against Slovenia last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in the absence of key player Bruno Fernandes.
The match was played yesterday, March 26.
The first goal of the game was scored by Slovenia midfielder Adam Gnezda Cerin in the 72nd minute. That lead was doubled by Timi Max Elsnik in the 80th minute.
The Portugal team featured popular faces like Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, Al-Hilal’s Ruben Neves and football legend and team captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Recall that some players had been released to return to their clubs after Portugal’s first friendly of this break, after winning the game 5-2.
Bruno Fernandes was outstanding in that game, scoring a goal and providing an assist. He was one of the players released to return to his club, so he didn’t feature yesterday.
Fernandes has been central to everything Portugal has done in the past eight games, as Portugal had won their last 11 games, scoring 41 goals and conceding four goals.
