Flamingos coach Bankole Olowookere eyes double over Algeria with FIFA U-17 World Cup spot at stake

On Thursday, April 24, Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere, expressed confidence and determination ahead of the second leg of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final qualifying round against Algeria.
The Nigerian team, who triumphed 4-0 in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne last weekend, will face Algeria at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on Friday.
Olowookere’s squad, highly motivated by their dominant performance in the first leg, has set their sights on securing the FIFA World Cup ticket, with the incentive of winning both the game and the qualifying spot.
Following their impressive victory, the Flamingos were rewarded with N6 million by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and billionaire businessman Kunle Soname, and both have confirmed that similar financial incentives will be offered for the second leg.
“Our objective is clear – to win the FIFA World Cup ticket. That is the big motivation. Yet, we have been further incentivized by the monetary rewards. My girls will go all out on Friday night,” Olowookere told theff.com.
With the financial rewards and the dream of representing Nigeria on the global stage, the Flamingos are determined to secure their place in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
