Manchester United transfer buzz: 7 hot targets eyed in major summer shake-up

Manchester United is reportedly eyeing a summer squad overhaul, with as many as seven new players on their radar as part of a fresh plan under potential new manager Ruben Amorim.

According to respected journalist Graeme Bailey, speaking to United in Focus and quoted by Teamtalk, United are ready to get aggressive in the transfer market—and the biggest name in the mix right now is Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

But here’s the twist: United doesn’t want Cunha as a typical No. 9 striker. Instead, they plan to use him as an attacking midfielder, playing just behind a new main striker in Amorim’s system.

“Cunha’s people have held talks over the weekend, which they feel went well,” Bailey said. “United are more guarded over the talks, but confirmed they did take place and that he is a player they admire.”

He added that Wolves won’t accept less than Cunha’s release clause, and United is figuring out how much to offer in the initial bid.

Who else is on United’s wishlist?

Bailey revealed several more names United is seriously watching:

  • Francisco Trincao – Amorim managed him at Sporting CP and is a big fan. Trincao is reportedly open to the move.

  • Jobe Bellingham – Yes, Jude’s younger brother. United loves his potential and sees him as a future star.

  • Chris Rigg – A rising talent in English football, also high on United’s youth wishlist.

  • Rayan Cherki & Tyler Dibling – Both are admired for their talent, though they are currently considered backup options rather than top priorities.

  • Franco Mastantuono – A highly-rated Argentine wonderkid from River Plate, but Bailey says the 16-year-old “wants to move to Spain,” making a United move less likely.

United’s season so far

Despite sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, the Red Devils have made it to the Europa League semi-finals, giving fans hope for a strong finish and a fresh rebuild next season.

With big names and young stars in the mix, this summer could be one of the busiest and boldest transfer windows for Manchester United in years.
