NFF to appoint interim local coach for Super Eagles ahead of AFCON qualifiers
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) plans to appoint a local coach on an interim basis for the Super Eagles.
The new interim coach will lead the national team during the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers starting in September, as reported by OgaNla Media.
Since Finidi George stepped down as head coach, the Eagles have been without a permanent replacement. NFF Technical Director Austin Eguaveon had stated last week that a new coach would be announced soon.
Speculation arose over the weekend suggesting that Janne Andersson might be appointed. However, it appears that a permanent coach may not be in place before Nigeria’s matches against Benin on September 7 and Rwanda on September 10.
