Breaking: 33 armed thugs arrested in major Kano police sweep to keep city safe

Between Wednesday, April 23 and Monday, April 28, 2025, the Kano State Police Command arrested 33 suspected thugs, commonly known as Yan Daba, during a powerful series of intelligence-led clearance operations in high-risk areas of Kano metropolis.
The raids were carried out by the Command’s Tactical Teams under the supervision of Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and were led on the ground by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe, head of the Anti-Daba Team.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects were caught with dangerous weapons, illegal drugs, and stolen items. They now face serious charges including:

Armed robbery

Illegal possession of weapons

Drug trafficking
The police said the operation was part of a larger plan directed by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to make sure residents of Kano live in peace and safety.
“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to maintaining peace and security by conducting round-the-clock visibility patrols, intelligence-led raids, evidence-based investigations, and enhanced community policing activities,” the police statement read.
CP Bakori thanked the public for their support and urged everyone to keep working with the police by reporting crimes or suspicious behavior.
