White House says even Supreme Court justices could be arrested for helping illegal immigrants

On Monday, April 28, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made a bold statement during a press briefing, saying that the Trump administration would consider arresting federal or even Supreme Court judges if they break the law by helping illegal immigrants avoid arrest.

The remark came in response to a question from Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, who asked about the possibility of arresting higher-level judges following the arrest of a Milwaukee County Circuit judge accused of helping an undocumented immigrant escape federal agents.

Doocy asked:

“You guys arrested a Milwaukee County Circuit judge for allegedly helping illegal immigrants get away. As you guys look at other judges, would you ever arrest somebody higher up on the judicial food chain, like a federal judge or even a Supreme Court justice?”

Leavitt replied:

“Anyone who is breaking the law or obstructing federal law enforcement officials from doing their jobs is putting themselves at risk of being prosecuted, absolutely.”

Regarding the Milwaukee case, she said the judge “obstructed federal law enforcement who were looking for an illegal alien in her courthouse” and added:

“She showed that illegal alien the door to evade law enforcement officials. That is a clear-cut case of obstruction.”

The comments have raised alarms about the balance of power between the executive and judicial branches and stirred intense debate about judicial independence, immigration enforcement, and legal boundaries.
