Mr Macaroni opens up on devastating financial struggles and N500 million debt

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Nigerian content creator and actor Mr Macaroni shared a deeply personal account of his financial struggles, revealing that he was a victim of a scam and a failed investment in 2021. These events left him with nothing but debt, which spiraled to N500 million.
In a candid post shared via his X handle, Mr Macaroni explained that after losing all his savings, he turned to borrowing money to meet his obligations and commitments. He confessed that his financial recklessness, combined with his generosity, contributed to the downward spiral of his financial situation.
Mr Macaroni wrote, “Sometime around 2021/2022, I was a victim of a scam and simultaneously a failed investment that cost me all I had saved at the time. It shook me deeply but I told no one about it. If you know me well enough, you would know I do not like to share my problems. I could be going through the worst and at the same time helping others solve their own problems, but I just would never share mine.”
He continued, “After I lost all the money I had then, trouble started when I had to borrow money from different sources to settle all pending commitments and also fulfill certain responsibilities I have always believed were mine to fulfill. I make money in millions, so I never thought borrowing money to pay back with interest could ever be a problem. But I got too comfortable, and it took me a long time to realize that I was using the money I was earning to pay back interests. Also, my financial recklessness did not help. Please don’t borrow money! But if you must, please be responsible.”
The actor went on to reflect on 2024, describing it as a pivotal year for his acting career but also the most challenging time of his life. It was in 2024 that he found himself drowning in over N500 million in debt.
Mr Macaroni’s frustration reached new heights after he was betrayed by someone he considered “a friend and sister,” further complicating his emotional and financial burdens.
However, with the unwavering support of his family and friends, he now says, “I feel better than I have felt in the last 3 years!”
In closing, Mr Macaroni explained that he shared his story not for sympathy, but to encourage others who might be facing similar challenges. His message: despite the darkest times, there’s always hope for recovery.
