LP leader Abure says 2027 presidential ticket open to all, not just Peter Obi
On Monday, September 9, 2024, Julius Abure, the factional leader of the Labour Party (LP), announced that the party’s tickets for the 2027 general election will be available to all qualified Nigerians, not just reserved for specific individuals.
Abure made this declaration after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. He stated, “NEC in session also reviewed the decision of the National Convention to reserve its Presidential and Governorship tickets for Peter Gregory Obi and Alex Otti respectively.”
He clarified, “Consequently, all tickets of the party from the Presidency to the House of Assemblies are open to all qualified Nigerians.”
This announcement follows recent controversy surrounding a stakeholders’ meeting organized by Abia State Governor Alex Otti and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, during which former finance minister Nenadi Usman was appointed as caretaker chairperson of the party.
