Police bring Dele Farotimi to court over alleged defamation of Afe Babalola
On Wednesday, December 4, human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, was brought before an Ekiti State Magistrate Court. Farotimi, who was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by officers from the Ekiti police command, appeared in court around 10:25 am.
He is facing a total of 16 charges related to defamation of character against Aare Afe Babalola, a respected legal figure and founder of Afe Babalola University. Farotimi is accused of tarnishing Babalola’s reputation in his recently published book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
