Omobayo insists he is Edo’s Deputy Governor despite Shaibu’s reinstatement

Marvellous Godwins Omobayo affirmed on Thursday, August 22, that he remains the legitimate Deputy Governor of Edo State.

Omobayo, speaking during a solidarity visit by leaders and members of the three recognized transport unions in the state, stated that he continues to fulfill his duties as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.

He emphasized that ongoing legal disputes related to his office have not distracted him. Omobayo expressed his dedication to supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in achieving economic prosperity and transformation for Edo State.

Recently, the Appeal Court in Abuja reinstated Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor following his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly due to a dispute with Governor Obaseki. Despite Shaibu’s reinstatement, Obaseki had sworn in Omobayo as Deputy Governor following the impeachment.
