NPFL: Akwa United vows to bounce back after heavy defeat to Ikorodu City

On Sunday, December 1, Akwa United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, leaving the team in a state of reflection.

Ikorodu City’s Tosin Oyedokun, Emmanuel Solomon, Olatunji Abdulmalik, and Cole Ayomide all found the back of the net, securing a commanding victory for the home side. Akwa United’s lone goal came from Chijioke Alaekwe, who managed to grab a consolation for the Promise Keepers.

Despite the disappointing loss, Akwa United remains hopeful and determined to recover, expressing their resolve on social media.

“A bad day at work… we will get it right soon enough,” the club posted on X (formerly Twitter).

With the defeat, Akwa United dropped to 19th place in the NPFL standings, but the team is focused on bouncing back and turning their fortunes around in the coming matches.
