Davido releases star-studded fifth studio album ‘5ive’

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially released his highly anticipated fifth studio album titled ‘5ive’, a 17-track project featuring a mix of local and international stars.

The album, which dropped on Friday, includes guest appearances from Nigerian talents like Omah Lay, Victony, OdumoduBlvck, and Chike. Notably, the single ‘Fund’ features Chike, while ‘Awuke’, the first single off the album, includes Jamaican sensation YG Marley.

Global collaborations also define the album’s appeal, with appearances from American R&B star Chris Brown, Grammy-winning singer Victoria Monét, Latin pop star Becky G, South African hitmaker Musa Keys, and French musicians Dadju and Tayc. Jamaican artists Shensea and 450 also bring Caribbean vibes to the project.

Speaking on Clue Radio, Davido revealed that ‘5ive’ marks a return to his production roots, contributing creatively beyond his vocals. In a Twitch livestream with alté star Cruel Santino, he explained that the album title reflects both a personal and artistic milestone.

Ahead of the album release, Davido teased fans with three singles, including the energetic Amapiano track ‘Be There Still’. With ‘5ive’, the singer aims to replicate the global success of his fourth album ‘Timeless’, which included the Grammy-nominated hit ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys.

Since his 2012 breakout, Davido has consistently remained at the forefront of Afrobeats, and ‘5ive’ further cements his influence as a cross-continental hitmaker.
