Gunmen attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Kogi

Gunmen attacked the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, reportedly believing the lawmaker was present at the location.
In a statement released on Thursday by the senator’s team, the attackers vandalized windows in her grandfather’s house. The statement added that security operatives and local community members responded swiftly, successfully repelling the assailants without casualties.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central, linked the attack to her recent public allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Her team described the assault as a calculated act of intimidation and called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to reinstate her security detail, which was withdrawn in March following her suspension from the Senate over alleged misconduct—an allegation she has denied.
Recounting the incident, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said, “Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect locations for upcoming projects I attracted to my senatorial district. The unknown gunmen assumed I was the one in town and attacked my family house that night.”
She expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and local residents for their quick response and noted that a police report had been filed at the area command.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a vocal advocate of women’s rights and governance transparency, has recently faced political tensions following her suspension from the Red Chamber.
