Nigeria striker Boniface could miss opening Bundesliga game due to suspension

Victor Boniface might miss Bayer Leverkusen’s opening Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach due to a potential suspension.

The Nigeria international is under investigation for unsportsmanlike conduct during Die Werkself’s German Super Cup victory over VFB Stuttgart last weekend.

If found guilty, Boniface could face sanctions from the German Football Association.

A spokesperson for the association said, “Boniface is suspected of having shown the Stuttgart players the finger as he passed them just after the final whistle,” according to Die Tageszeitung.

Boniface scored the opening goal for Xabi Alonso’s side in that match.

Bayer Leverkusen is set to start their title defense against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday, August 23.
