Kenneth Okonkwo resigns as LP spokesman, cites leadership crisis as reason

Kenneth Okonkwo, former spokesman for the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, has officially announced his resignation from the party.

In a statement, the Nollywood veteran explained that his decision to leave the Labour Party is due to ongoing internal conflicts and leadership challenges that have affected the party.

Okonkwo clarified that his resignation would take effect on February 25, 2025, marking the second anniversary of the 2023 presidential election.

He expressed his commitment to continue working toward good governance for Nigeria but stated that such goals could no longer be pursued within the current structure of the Labour Party.

“My entrance into politics was for good governance, and I will continue to work for it to ensure Nigeria becomes a great country of incorruptible leaders. This aim can no longer be realised within the Labour Party as presently constituted,” he said in his statement.

He added, “This resignation takes effect from the 25th of February, 2025, after which I will join other well-meaning, like-minded Nigerians in shaping a great future for this country blessed by God.”
