FIBA Ranking: D’Tigress soar to eighth position after stellar Olympic performance
Nigeria’s D’Tigress have surged up the FIBA rankings, climbing four places to secure the eighth spot in the latest update released on Thursday, August 29.
This impressive rise is a result of their standout performance in the women’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Under the guidance of coach Rena Wakama, the D’Tigress showcased their prowess by defeating top-ranked teams like Australia and Canada in the group stage. They also achieved a historic milestone as the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympics.
The journey ended with a commendable performance against the United States, the defending champions, in the quarter-finals.
This is the highest ranking ever achieved by any African team, male or female, in FIBA history.
