FG launches ‘Convert Now, Pay Later’ platform for petrol-to-CNG conversions

On Tuesday, October 9, the Federal Government unveiled a new online platform that allows Nigerians to convert their petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) with the option of paying later.

This initiative, aimed at promoting cleaner energy, was announced by the National Orientation Agency (NOA). According to a statement shared on NOA’s X handle, the platform offers flexible payment plans, allowing users to convert their vehicles and pay in affordable monthly installments.

The agency noted, “Switching to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is now more accessible than ever. With tailored payment options, converting from petrol to CNG has never been smoother or more affordable.”

The website, available at gocng.ng, features a simple online application process with quick approval, ensuring a hassle-free experience for users. NOA emphasized the advantages of adopting CNG, including significant cost savings, a reduced environmental impact, improved engine longevity, safety, and reliability.

This announcement follows the government’s recent launch on October 7 of a portal for youths to access CNG-powered tricycles as part of the Presidential CNG Initiative (P-CNGi). Michael Oluwagbemi, the Project Director and CEO of P-CNGi, stated that the initiative aims to enhance the economic well-being of Nigerians by decreasing reliance on petrol and promoting cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.
