President Tinubu gives strong warning, tells Plateau governor to stop deadly crisis now

On Monday, April 14, President Bola Tinubu told Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State to take strong action to end the violence that has recently led to the death of over 40 people. He said it’s time for real leadership and lasting peace in the state.

In a message shared by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sadness over the tragedy and gave his full support to the people of Plateau during this difficult time.

He said:
“The ongoing violence between communities in Plateau State, rooted in misunderstandings between different ethnic and religious groups, must cease.”

President Tinubu strongly condemned the attacks and urged security agencies to fully investigate what happened and find out who is behind the killings. He said the government cannot allow the “tit-for-tat” violence to go on any longer.

“We cannot allow this devastation and the tit-for-tat attacks to continue. Enough is enough,” he said.

He called on people in the state—community leaders, religious leaders, and politicians—to work together to stop the cycle of revenge and violence.

The President said that even though it’s important to stop the criminals behind the attacks, it’s also time to solve the deeper problems that have existed for more than twenty years in Plateau.

“Beyond dealing with the criminal elements of these incessant killings, the political leadership in Plateau State, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, must address the root cause of this age-long problem,” he said.

President Tinubu also reminded everyone that love, unity, and peace are more important than any differences between people.

He said:
“We can no longer ignore the underlying issues. It is time to tackle them fairly and find a lasting solution. I have discussed these problems with the governor over time and offered suggestions for lasting peace.”

To help, the Federal Government is standing with Governor Mutfwang and the people of Plateau to encourage dialogue, peace, and justice. The goal, Tinubu said, is a peaceful Plateau where everyone can live without fear.
