Shade Okoya says she has no regrets marrying billionaire 37 years her senior

Shade Okoya, a prominent Nigerian industrialist and wife of billionaire businessman Razak Okoya, has addressed long-standing public criticism of her marriage, firmly stating that she has “never missed out on anything” despite marrying a significantly older man.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, which aired on Tuesday, April 29, the 48-year-old businesswoman dismissed claims that she sacrificed youthful experiences by marrying Razak Okoya—now 85—when she was just 21 years old in 1999.
“My husband has been very generous with me, and defends me anywhere. God said this is where I will be. We met each other, and he liked me and he did not waste time at all,” Shade recounted.
She further emphasized her contentment, stating:
“I’m happy in my marriage to him. He is far older than me but I don’t think I ever missed out on anything because I didn’t marry a younger man.”
Over the years, the couple’s large age difference has sparked debate, but Shade Okoya’s latest comments highlight her confidence, fulfillment, and enduring happiness in the union.
