Video recommendations no longer shown on YouTube home page for logged-our users
Google-owned video-sharing platform, YouTube now shows a blank for logged-out users, instead of video recommendations like before, the Indian Express reports.
If you use Incognito mode where you’re not logged in, and you visit youtube.com, you will see a message saying “Try searching to get started. Start watching videos to help us build a feed of videos you’ll love” as can be seen in the image below.
This development was first reported by Bleeping Computer, and it’s unclear when the development actually took place. This message, according to the report, was even shown to logged-in users who had cleared their search and watch history.
YouTube had experimented with this development back in August 2023, but they reverted to their old ways when users expressed dissatisfaction at the development.
Some users may welcome this development, especially if the recommendations YouTube showed before were unhelpful. It means they now have more control over their viewing experience. Other users who liked having quick access to the kind of content they frequently watch, may not find it as exciting.
