Toke Makinwa clarifies relationship with Farouk Umar, insists they are just friends
Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has addressed rumors suggesting that she married entertainment guru Farouk Umar during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving party in Lagos.
Speculation grew on social media after photos and videos of Toke and Farouk surfaced, showing the pair in matching all-white outfits and appearing affectionate. However, Toke has firmly denied the marriage claims, emphasizing their friendship.
“On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy,” Toke remarked. “This guy is my best friend. Listen, on Toke Makinwa’s internet, they said I married Farouk. Farouk, my friend, ore mi… this is my nigga and my friend, my brother. Who wan marry you? Farouk held me down when there was nobody.”
Toke’s previous marriage to fitness trainer Maje Ayida ended in 2017 after three years, amidst allegations of infidelity. Her recent statements clarify her close relationship with Farouk, maintaining that they are simply friends.
