Senate delays screening of ministerial nominees, including Bianca Ojukwu
On Tuesday, October 29, the Nigerian Senate announced that it would postpone the screening of President Bola Tinubu’s new ministerial nominees. The delay allows the nominees to finish their documentation and pre-screening tasks.
Originally, the screening was set to take place on Tuesday, but the Senate has now rescheduled it for Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, President Tinubu made some changes in his cabinet, letting go of five ministers and nominating seven new ones who are waiting for Senate approval. He also reassigned ten ministers to different roles.
Among the new nominees, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu has been selected as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Nentawe Yilwatda will be the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, marking the end of Betta Edu’s suspended tenure.
Other nominees include Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha as the Minister for the new Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as the Minister of State for Education.
