Peter Obi @ 63: Happy birthday to an exemplary mentor, leader, and philanthropist
Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has turned 63.
An exemplary leader, father, and mentor, Obi’s love for Nigeria and determination to make the country work is reflected in everything he has done since he went into politics.
He said on Wednesday, July 17, that he wishes to have a quiet celebration, even urging well-wishers and those who wished to give him gifts to direct those gifts to the less privileged. This, again, shows how big his heart is, that he would still make his special day about bettering the lives of the less-privileged.
Obi was the Chairman of Fidelity Bank in the 2000s before leaving his position to enter into politics full-time.
He was governor of Anambra from 2007 to 2014, doing two terms.
He was the running mate to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential elections, which former President Muhammadu Buhari won.
The just-turned-63-year-old is at the forefront of the ‘Obidient movement’, a movement that campaigned heavily for him in the 2023 presidential election, accruing him six million votes and winning him Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to the surprise of millions.
