Neymar Jr’s contract with Al-Hilal terminated

Al-Hilal has announced the termination of Neymar Jr’s contract, officially ending the Brazilian star’s injury-plagued 18-month spell in Saudi Arabia.

In a statement shared on social media, the club confirmed that the termination was by mutual consent, thanking Neymar for his contributions during his time with the team. The statement also wished him success in his future endeavors.

The 32-year-old forward made just seven appearances for Al-Hilal after joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023. His time in Saudi Arabia was marred by injury, including a serious cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee while playing for Brazil in a World Cup qualifier in October 2023. That injury kept him out for almost a year.

Neymar briefly returned to action in October and November 2024 but was sidelined once again after suffering a hamstring injury. His contract with Al-Hilal was reportedly worth around $104 million annually.

With his departure from Al-Hilal confirmed, Neymar is now widely expected to return to his boyhood club, Santos, where he began his professional career.
