Manchester United dumps out Liverpool from FA Cup
Manchester United knocked out Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup after 120 minutes of football at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The match kicked off on the evening of Sunday, March 17.
Man United piled pressure on the visitors early, and it paid off, as midfielder Scott McTominay scored the opening goal in the 10th minute for the hosts. Liverpool equalized in the 44th minute through Alexis Mac Allister and took the lead three minutes later in the 47th minute.
Manchester United found an equalizer through substitute Antony in the 87th minute, forcing the game to extra time.
Liverpool scored first in extra time through a lucky deflection from a Harvey Elliott strike in the 105th minute, but Marcus Rashford scored in the 112th minute to equalize again. It looked like it was going to be penalties when the match got to the 120th minute and it was still 3-3.
Substitute Amad Diallo, though, stood tall in the 121st minute to win the game for the hosts and send Erik ten Hag’s men to the semifinal.
Diallo has been injured for a large part of the season, and his presence in the match would have filled Man United hearts with joy, but his winning goal would have sent them to heaven.
