Logistics startup Sendstack targets traditional businesses with new software

On Friday, October 25, Sendstack, a Nigerian logistics platform, announced a new focus on CTRL, its logistics management software designed for corporate clients working with third-party logistics partners. This shift means the company will stop its first product, DLVR, a last-mile delivery service.

Emeka Mba-Kalu, Sendstack’s Co-Founder and CEO, explained that DLVR didn’t grow as expected and was “taking a lot of time and energy needed to bring CTRL to market.”

Founded in 2021, Sendstack initially helped businesses in Nigeria manage third-party logistics providers through DLVR. However, the startup sees a larger opportunity in providing logistics management software to big corporations instead of just focusing on last-mile delivery.

Ifeoma Nwobu, Sendstack’s Co-Founder and COO, mentioned that CTRL isn’t entirely new. “It has been the tool we’ve been using on the backend to manage all the delivery operations, and it was what made us different from another dispatch company,” she said. “People just couldn’t see it then.”

This pivot aligns with Sendstack’s goal to become the logistics backbone for African businesses by offering solutions tailored for large organizations. Mba-Kalu stated, “It’s still the same market, but with a different approach and target audience.”

CTRL offers features for routing and tracking deliveries, managing communication with various delivery partners and customers, processing payments, and providing detailed operational insights. Clients using CTRL pay ₦200 per delivery process, with options for monthly subscriptions and customized packages based on their logistics needs.

Sendstack also plans to expand CTRL beyond Nigeria, targeting markets with high economic activity and fragmented logistics systems.

However, the shift to enterprise-level software won’t be easy. Selling to corporations, especially in sectors that have relied on manual logistics management, may take time and be complex. To address this, Sendstack aims to show how CTRL can save costs and time, highlighting the efficiency of managing logistics on a single platform.

Nwobu emphasized that reducing the time spent on resolving logistical conflicts and delays is a compelling argument for companies looking to optimize their operations. Mba-Kalu added, “We are not targeting tech businesses who may already have in-house logistics management software. We are targeting traditional businesses that want to stay competitive.”
