Lagos launches new portal to prevent revenue leakages, boost revenue collection

On Thursday, the Lagos State Government officially introduced its new revenue platform, the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP). This innovative tool is designed to streamline tax administration, prevent revenue leakages, and boost overall revenue collection for the state.

Kadiri Ogunbo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lagos State Taxation and Revenue, presented the initiative during a media briefing at Revenue House, located in Alausa, Ikeja. Ogunbo highlighted that the LRP is part of a broader effort by the state government to enhance fiscal efficiency and transparency.

Ogunbo remarked, “The LRP is a crucial step towards improving how we handle our revenue systems. It aims to simplify tax processes and make it easier for businesses to comply with their obligations. By addressing potential revenue leakages and inefficiencies, we expect this portal to significantly enhance our revenue generation capabilities.”

The new platform is expected to revolutionize how Lagos manages its tax operations, offering a more streamlined and transparent approach that benefits both the state and its taxpayers. It reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing its revenue collection processes and ensuring that every tax transaction is accounted for accurately.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is scheduled to officially launch the Lagos Revenue Portal on August 15, 2024. The event will also see the participation of other distinguished figures, marking a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to improve financial management and business operations.
