Kwankwaso criticizes Tinubu for ignoring Kano governor in palliative distribution

On Monday, September 9, 2024, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for excluding Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf from the distribution of rice palliatives.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Kwankwaso pointed out that, unlike in other states where palliatives were distributed through governors, Kano State’s palliatives were given to an All Progressives Congress (APC) member instead.

Kwankwaso said, “The distribution of the palliatives to 35 states all through their Governors, except Kano State in the whole federation. Kano’s share was handed over to APC stalwarts to handle.”

He described this action as a “gross insult to our constitutional democracy and driving partisanship too far” and urged President Tinubu to “immediately halt this naked derailment of democracy.”
