The Jigawa State Government has reported a huge loss of N5 billion in property damages caused by the protests that took place in August 2024. Barrister Bello Fanini, the Chairman of the fact-finding committee on the protests, shared this news on Tuesday evening, January 21, when he presented the committee’s findings to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.

Fanini, who is also the state’s Commissioner for Justice, explained that the destruction included assets owned by the federal, state, and local governments, as well as private individuals. He said, “The damage was widespread, and it affected properties belonging to all levels of government and citizens.”

The committee also recommended measures to prevent such destruction from happening again in the future.

Governor Namadi thanked the committee for their hard work and promised to carefully consider and act on their recommendations. He added, “Our priority is to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.”
