IPOB accuses Igbo politicians of using Nnamdi Kanu’s detention for personal gains
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned Igbo politicians to stop using their leader Nnamdi Kanu’s detention for their own political gain.
IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful said that many South-East politicians who claim to be working for Kanu’s release are just making empty promises.
Powerful said: “IPOB and our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, want to remind Igbo politicians to stop exploiting Kanu’s situation for their personal benefit. Kanu is in detention not for Nigerian politics but to fight for Biafra’s freedom.
“We appreciate the Igbo people for not joining the #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria. Although Igbo people face severe political and economic marginalization, we have shown resilience despite years of persecution.
“If the Igbo had joined the protest, the government might have sent troops to attack Igbo land and harm civilians. IPOB is committed to our people’s safety and Biafra’s freedom.
“We urge Igbo people to ignore those using Nnamdi Kanu’s name to further their own political agendas. Many claims of visiting Kanu or working for his release are just political talk.
“IPOB will not be involved with these politicians until Kanu is released from his detention. Those who misuse Kanu’s suffering for their own interests should stop, or IPOB will publicly call them out and block their political efforts in the South-East.”
