Erling Haaland returns to action, goes clear in Golden Boot race
Erling Haaland returned to action on Sunday, April 28, as he came on for Jack Grealish in the 62nd minute and scored nine minutes later.
Manchester City was facing Nottingham Forest, looking to close the gap to Arsenal in the league table to one point.
Nottingham Forest created many goalscoring opportunities. Good ones too. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men converted none though.
Former RB Leipzig centerback Josko Gvardiol scored in the 32nd minute to put Pep Guardiola’s men 1-0 up. Chris Wood misses two clear cut chances to level the game and perhaps even take a lead.
However, the difference in finishing quality jumped out to viewers when Haaland was introduced to the match in the 62nd minute, and scored with his first shot almost 10 minutes later, assisted by none other than Kevin de Bruyne.
The win closes the gap to Arsenal to four points, with two games in hand, and Haaland’s goal pulls him clear at the top of the scoring chart, making him the outright top scorer in the league.
