Ebonyi Governor, Francis Nwifuru, sends 204 indigenes to the UK on scholarship

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has sent 204 indigenes of the state to the United Kingdom on scholarships as part of his administration’s effort to empower the youth through education and skill acquisition. The beneficiaries departed for their studies on Sunday, January 20, 2025.

Governor Nwifuru revealed that his goal is to ensure that 8,000 Ebonyi citizens benefit from the state’s scholarship scheme by the end of his tenure. This initiative aims to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the state’s development.

In addition to the 204 students sent to the UK, 541 other indigenes have been enrolled in Nigerian universities, with all their expenses covered by the Ebonyi State Government.

Governor Nwifuru urged the scholarship recipients to serve as exemplary ambassadors for the state, stressing the importance of being mindful of their words, actions, and achievements, as these represent the collective identity of Ebonyi. He also encouraged them to graduate on time and return to the state to apply their expertise in their respective fields.

“Your success will reflect on all of us,” Nwifuru said. “It is crucial that you use your knowledge to contribute to the growth and progress of Ebonyi State.”
