CAN sounds note of warning on planned protest

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Daniel Okoh, has urged caution ahead of the planned August 1 nationwide protest. While acknowledging the right to protest, he expressed hope that Nigeria’s problems can be overcome, citing examples of other countries that have faced similar challenges.

Okoh spoke to journalists in Benin City, emphasizing the need for hope and encouragement amidst suffering and infrastructure breakdown. He encouraged Nigerians to explore alternative means of expressing grievances, such as dialogue and petitions, to avoid giving hoodlums an opportunity to hijack the protest.

Okoh also called on the government to address the hardships faced by Nigerians, including reducing the cost of governance and implementing the newly approved national minimum wage. He expressed confidence that God would guide the nation’s leaders to make decisions that would bring joy to the people.
