Akwa Ibom APC Youths cry out to Godswill Akpabio for help amid struggles
On Friday, September 13, the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress Progressives Youth Forum (APC PYF) made a heartfelt request to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for help to ease their hardships.
In an open letter sent to Senator Akpabio, the youths looked back fondly on his time as governor and compared it to their current difficulties under Governor Umo Eno’s administration, which began in 2023. They described their current situation as “nightmarish,” with many facing poverty, hunger, and insecurity.
The letter, signed by Comrade Inyang Aaron and Chief Sylvester Martins, expressed concern about recent actions by the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), which demolished shanties and, according to the youths, worsened poverty for many Akwa Ibom residents. They also criticized the governor for what they called “audio policies” that haven’t helped much, including an “audio bulk food purchase scheme” that hasn’t made a difference.
The youths asked Akpabio to step in and arrange a meeting with stakeholders to find solutions to their problems. They promised to support the outcomes of the meeting and work towards making Akwa Ibom a better place where policies benefit everyone.
The letter ended with a prayer for God’s protection and guidance for Akpabio as he considers their plea.
