Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has endorsed Liverpool as strong contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Richards believes Liverpool is now well-positioned to compete for the English top-flight league title, following their failure to secure it last season.
The Reds currently occupy second place in the Premier League standings, trailing Manchester City only on goal difference, after winning all three of their opening matches this season.
Speaking on the Rest is Football Podcast on Monday, September 2, Richards commented: “Look at what they have got from the bench. They have just signed Federico Chiesa, who I think is outstanding. You’ve got Cody Gakpo, who had a brilliant Euros and comes in and runs about. That is all still to come.”
“I think they are serious now about challenging for the title. The reason I say that is because they seem more disciplined defensively and they have got firepower up front. They are challengers now,” Richards added.
