People are dying, and you’re releasing music — Mr Real criticises colleagues, fans

‎Afrobeats singer Mr Real has criticised fellow musicians and Nigerian music fans for continuing to release songs and patronise clubs despite worsening insecurity in the country.

The “Legbegbe” crooner said he has been unable to release new music due to the current state of the nation, describing the situation as deeply troubling.

Speaking in a recent video broadcast, Mr Real accused artists of being insensitive for dropping new music while the country faces serious security challenges.

“I wake up to terrible news every day. I am even scared to drop songs because of the terrible things happening in Nigeria. Artists who are releasing songs are trying because I don’t know the kind of mind they have,” he said.

He questioned the normalcy of entertainment activities amid ongoing violence, stating, “This country is burning. People are dying. Some individuals have turned insecurity to business and we still go to club. That is the problem.”

The singer acknowledged that individuals have personal lives to live but argued that the continued celebration and nightlife culture in the face of national hardship raises concerns.

“You can argue that you have your own life to live. I also can’t deny that I don’t club or enjoy my life. But can’t you see that it is not normal? It is like we are under a spell to be docile no matter how worse things get. Is it normal?” he added.
