Saudi Arabia warns Iran, threatens military action over drone, missile attacks

Saudi Arabia has warned Iran to halt missile and drone attacks on its territory, stating that it may resort to military action if the assaults continue.

The kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, said on Thursday that Saudi Arabia’s patience is “running out” and that the country reserves the right to respond militarily if necessary.

“The kingdom is not going to succumb to pressure, and on the contrary, this pressure will backfire… we have reserved the right to take military actions if deemed necessary,” he told reporters after a meeting in Riyadh.

Farhan accused Iran of attempting to pressure neighbouring countries through repeated attacks, warning that such actions would not succeed.

The warning comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, following threats by Iran to target energy infrastructure across neighbouring states.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had earlier warned of imminent counter-strikes on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, after reports that missiles struck its gas facilities at the South Pars field.

The South Pars gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, is the world’s largest natural gas reserve and a critical component of global energy supply.

The threats followed reported Israeli strikes on the South Pars facility, marking the first direct attacks on Iran’s fossil fuel production since the conflict began. Israeli media reported that the operation was carried out with the approval of the United States.

The latest developments signal a further escalation in regional tensions, with both Iran and Saudi Arabia exchanging threats over potential military action and energy infrastructure attacks.
