PDP talks with Kwankwaso and Peter Obi as 2027 elections approach

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently talking with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, who ran for President with the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections. These discussions are part of their strategy for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, shared this update in an interview with Channels Television on Monday, September 2.

Abdullahi mentioned that the PDP’s loss in the 2023 elections was partly due to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso leaving the party just before the polls, among other reasons.

Despite this, he remains hopeful that bringing these influential figures back into the PDP will help the party succeed in the 2027 elections.

“We lost Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, and if they were still with us, we would have won the election,” Abdullahi said. “The APC beat us by just over a million votes, and having any of these people back could have made up that difference, and Nigerians wouldn’t be facing the challenges they are now.”

He added that talks are ongoing to rejoin Peter Obi from the Labour Party (LP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with the PDP before the 2027 elections.
