Okocha urges Nigeria to support new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle
Former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha has called on Nigerian football fans to rally behind the newly appointed head coach of the national team, Eric Chelle.
Chelle’s appointment has sparked mixed reactions among fans and pundits, but Okocha emphasized the importance of supporting the Malian coach as he begins his tenure.
Speaking on Lagos Talks FM, Okocha said, “The decision to appoint the new coach was that of the NFF. We should give him a chance to do his job. We should support him as well as the NFF, and hopefully, we will be at the World Cup.”
The former Bolton Wanderers playmaker also highlighted the significance of the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stating, “We all want the team to qualify for the World Cup because we all benefit when they are doing well.”
Okocha’s call for unity and support comes at a crucial time for the Super Eagles as they prepare for upcoming qualifiers.
