NPFL, Sevilla partner to improve sports development in Nigeria
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a new partnership with Spanish club Sevilla FC.
NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye formalized the agreement during a visit to Sevilla’s facilities in Spain. This partnership aims to enhance sports development in Nigeria, focusing on coaching and nurturing young talent.
Elegbeleye highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “We have 20 clubs in the Nigerian Premier League, each with its own youth academies. Sevilla FC has a storied history and a proven track record of success in Spain and Europe. Their development strategy and youth programs are highly regarded.”
He added, “We believe that the top players from the Nigeria Youth League will have the opportunity to train at Sevilla each season. With their expertise, these players will return as better athletes.”
The agreement also includes a training program for NPFL coaches, which Elegbeleye believes will be mutually beneficial. “It’s a win-win arrangement for everyone involved in the NPFL,” he concluded.
