Manchester United confirms appointment of Ruben Amorim as manager
Manchester United have officially announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new manager. In a statement released on Friday, November 1, the club confirmed that Amorim will remain with Sporting Lisbon until November 11, meaning his first match in charge will be a Premier League trip to Ipswich Town.
The 39-year-old has signed a contract with the club until June 2027, with the option for an additional year. United have paid Sporting Lisbon an extra €1 million (£840,000) on top of Amorim’s €10 million (£8.4 million) exit clause to secure his early release from a 30-day notice period.
Amorim replaces Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed on Monday. In the interim, Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the team until Amorim officially takes over. United’s next match is a league fixture at home against Chelsea on Sunday, November 3.
