Kylian Mbappe may have to take a pay cut if he's desperate for Real Madrid move

Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) main forward, may have to take a pay cut if he still wants the Real Madrid move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The proposed salary from the president of the Spanish giants, Florentino Perez, is lower than what he was offered last summer, and lower than what he is currently earning at PSG.

This relatively low salary offer is the aftermath of the back and forth that Real Madrid has gone through with the France No. 10.

Recall that Real Madrid had tried to sign the former AS Monaco winger several times in the past two years.

At the beginning of the current season, Mbappe had stated his decision not to renew his contract with the Parisian club. According to reports, he has told the club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will not be renewing his contract. Rumors said he wanted to join Real Madrid.

Mbappe himself called those rumors “lies” and expressed his commitment to continue playing for the club. However, the PSG hierarchy insists that if Mbappe wants to stay, he must sign a new contract, something that the World Cup winner doesn’t want to do.

Mbappe’s contract expires in June 2024, which is just 3 months away, and if he has not signed an extension yet, he’s likely not to. This means he is most likely going to leave PSG.

Madrid seems to have a contract ready, but with it being a pay cut, he has a decision to make. Pay cut to Madrid, or stay at PSG and sign a new contract.
