I feel privileged to share in Wigwe's memories - Vice President Shettima
The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has expressed deep gratitude and reverence for the opportunity to share in memories of the just departed Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, Vanguard reports.
Vice President Shettima said “I feel privileged to be here today to share in the memories of Hebert and the pillars of his hope that left with him.”
The Vice President said this while addressing the attendees of the Night of Tribute that was held in honor of Wigwe on Wednesday, March 7, at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State.
Shettima expressed condolences to the grieving family on behalf of the Presidency, emphasizing what a great loss it was indeed, not just to Access Bank and the banking sector, but to the whole country.
“He was a sanctuary of inspiration for his friends, a source of solace for his family, a nourishing hope for his community, a symbol of pride for Nigeria and a beacon of hope for Africa,” he said.
Shettima said he and Wigwe were born only 15 days apart. He called the deceased a friend, brother and contemporary, adding that he was honored to partake in the celebration of the life he lived.
Shettima, in addition to Wigwe, also mourned other victims of the helicopter crash, including Wigwe’s wife Doreen, his son Chizi, and former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) Abimbola Ogunbanjo.
