Former Labour Party campaign manager Balami defects back to APC
Former Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign manager, Isaac Balami, has defected back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing that his initial reasons for leaving the party were unfounded.
Balami, also a former National President of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, had previously left the APC due to disagreements over the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket but has now reversed his decision, stating that the issue “means nothing” to him.
In a statement, Balami praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying, “No president has ever worked with the Middle Belt like President Bola Tinubu.” He highlighted the administration’s achievements, including appointing credible Nigerians with a focus on equity.
Balami expressed his newfound appreciation for the APC, saying, “That was not what I saw when I left. I now see a better party and a better government. I can see a Nigeria that, in a few years, will thrive.”
He added that after consulting with leaders across Nigeria, the middle-belt caucus, his parents, and his immediate family, he has decided to resign from LP and return to APC.
“I think it is only important for us to work with APC in its effort to rescue this country,” Balami said.
This move is seen as a significant blow to the Labour Party, while the APC has, unsurprisingly, welcomed Balami back with open arms.
