Euro 2024: Rodri hails England player after tournament victory

Spain and Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has hailed England and Chelsea forward Cole Palmer as a ‘huge talent’ following his side’s victory in the Euro 2024 final over the Three Lions on Sunday, July 14, in Germany.

Recall that both Rodri and Palmer featured as Spain defeated England 2-1.

Palmer’s goal was enough to give Gareth Southgate’s side hope, but not enough to give them the victory, as two goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal made Palmer’s goal irrelevant.

However, Rodri, who was crowned Player of the Tournament, spoke highly of the Chelsea star, who he spent some years with at Manchester City.

“We knew they [England] didn’t need to play a great game to draw, to score goals.

“I know this guy (Palmer). Huge talent that he is going to be. A top player in the next few years. He put it in the corner (Palmer’s goal).

“In that moment we suffered a little bit. But this tournament, we showed something different that was key and we overcame this situation, so it was great.”
