Billie Eilish tops charts with ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’, wins Apple Music award for record second time
Billie Eilish has released her highly anticipated third album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, which quickly ascended to No. 1 on Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries. The album, a bold and vulnerable reflection of her growth as an artist, marks a new milestone in her career. It follows a historic year that saw her win a second Academy Award and two GRAMMYs for her contribution to the Barbie film’s song “What Was I Made For?”.
Eilish also made history by becoming the first artist to earn the Apple Music Artist of the Year award twice, after previously winning the inaugural honor in 2019. The album has received widespread acclaim, with critics praising it as her best work to date.
Her rise continues as she heads into a sold-out HIT ME HARD AND SOFT tour, which will last into 2025. Eilish has also been making waves in the global music scene, performing her hit “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” at the closing ceremony of the Summer Games in August, resulting in her biggest Shazam day ever. Additionally, her collaboration with Charli XCX on the summer anthem “Guess” has been a standout.
Eilish’s influence is further reinforced by her seven nominations for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including prestigious nods for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s senior director of content and editorial, highlighted Eilish’s remarkable evolution: “It’s been truly remarkable to watch her blossom so bravely and honestly on her own terms.”
Billie Eilish expressed her gratitude to Apple Music, saying, “Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career.”
