In the latest episode of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 9, Kassia, one of the contestants, expressed her growing frustration with the pretense of being ‘best friends’ with her husband and fellow housemate, Kellyrae. Known together as DoubleKay, the couple initially adopted this guise as part of their strategy when they entered the house.
Kassia and Kellyrae revealed during the season premiere that they would maintain the illusion of being close friends rather than a married couple as part of their game plan. However, after more than two weeks of maintaining this façade, Kassia confided in Biggie during Wednesday’s diary session about the toll it was taking on her.
“This whole bestie act we are putting on is really wearing me down. Sometimes, I just want to be close to him [Kellyrae], but I can’t because of this charade,” she lamented. “Most of the tasks we’re given, like the Aquafina Padi of Life task we did yesterday, were challenging because I had to hide the fact that we’re married. It hasn’t been easy, Big Brother.”
Meanwhile, Kellyrae shared his own strategy for the house, explaining that he plans to cultivate an impression of romantic interest in fellow housemates Anita and Handi. His aim is to divert attention away from his and Kassia’s true relationship. “I intend to give the impression that I’m interested in Handi and Anita to shift the focus away from Kassia and me,” he said.
