On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Victor Osimhen found the back of the net as Galatasaray battled to a 2-2 draw against AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie.
Having suffered a 4-1 loss in the first leg, Galatasaray needed to score four goals without conceding to secure their spot in the Round of 16. However, the home team faced an uphill battle, falling behind just three minutes before halftime.
Danso Kasius extended AZ Alkmaar’s lead with a goal 10 minutes into the second half, putting Galatasaray further on the back foot.
But Osimhen, showing his clinical form, halved the deficit for the Turkish side in the 56th minute. This goal marked his 20th of the season across all competitions for Galatasaray.
With 20 minutes remaining, Roland Sallai completed the comeback for Galatasaray, equalising at 2-2. Despite the draw, the Turkish side could not overturn the deficit from the first leg and was eliminated from the competition.
