Arteta ensures Arsenal star Trossard stays amid Saudi interest
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stepped in to keep forward Leandro Trossard at the club, despite interest from the Saudi Pro League this summer.
As the transfer window drew to a close, Al-Ittihad made a push for a loan deal for Trossard.
However, Arteta, described by Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad as a “real fan” of the player, intervened to prevent the move. Arsenal is also expected to offer Trossard a significant new contract in the near future.
Al-Ittihad had proposed a £4.1 million loan deal with an obligation to buy Trossard for £21 million, along with a lucrative £12.5 million-a-year salary, which would have tripled his current earnings.
Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton for £20 million in January 2023 and has since netted 19 goals in 74 appearances for the club.
