APC elders back Nasarawa governor and show support for Ganduje
With less than two weeks before the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), elders from the North Central region have expressed their strong support for the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The North Central APC Elders Forum praised Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his efforts in restoring peace within the APC in the region. They also supported Sule’s recent visit to the APC National Secretariat, where he expressed backing for Ganduje.
Recently, some members of the party had criticized Governor Sule for his visit to Ganduje and for his comments, which they saw as a show of confidence in the former Kano governor.
However, the Chairman of the Forum and former President of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute, issued a statement on Monday, September 2, in Abuja, calling Sule’s visit “a rightful intervention in discussing the interests of the elders of our great party in our zone.”
“We are pleased that Governor A.A. Sule is leading the North Central zone to strengthen the party for better performance,” said Senator Ebute.
The Forum also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Dr. Ganduje for resolving the political crisis in the Benue State APC. They noted that the formation of the Caretaker Committee in Benue has helped restore peace to the party and governance in the state.
Ebute urged all APC governors in the zone to follow Governor Sule’s example by regularly engaging with party leadership “to further strengthen our relationship with the leadership at the center.”
The Forum applauded the Ganduje-led National Working Committee for creating the National Progressives Institute and requested that the North Central be included in its leadership structure, which will be announced soon.
“We are committed to supporting any initiative that benefits the North Central people and uses the APC to bring development to our zone,” the elders declared.
